BELLEVILLE, Ont. - A 49-year-old man has died in what police say is a suspected drowning at Sandbanks Provincial Park, south of Belleville, Ont.
Provincial police say the incident happened at Lakeshore Lodge on Lake Ontario early Monday afternoon.
The resident of Thomasburg, Ont., whose name hasn't been released, was pulled from the water after running into difficulty, but died.
An autopsy will be held at Belleville General Hospital today.
Another man was rescued at almost the same location two hours later while officers were investigating the first incident, but he survived.
There was a strong undertow at the beach Monday.
