A man is facing multiple weapons charges after he was allegedly found with a loaded handgun in Ottawa’s Vanier neighbourhood on Friday.

Ottawa police said they arrested a man just before 9:15 p.m. for communicating for the purpose of prostitution in the area of Montreal Road and Olmstead Street.

Because of the arrest, police said they found a 9 millimetre Springfield Arms handgun that was loaded at the time it was seized.

Normand Corminboeuf, age 41, is facing nine firearms charges in connection with the seizure.

The Ottawa police’s Guns and Gangs unit is still investigating.
