Fire investigators have determined that a massive fire on Somerset Street was accidentally caused by work being done on the roof.

Damages are estimated to be over one million dollars.

Four people have been displaced.

The three-alarm fire started just after 11 a.m. Wednesday at a building housing the Daily Grind coffee shop, Middle East Bakery and two apartments. The response was soon upgraded to four alarms.

Flames soon spread throughout the building, and to neighbouring businesses, including the tattoo shop, A Dark Cloud.

By the time it was all over later that evening, the entire block had collapsed into a pile of rubble.

Many neighbouring homes and businesses also reported varying degrees of smoke and water damage.

Two firefighters suffered minor injuries battling the blaze, otherwise everyone escaped safely.

A GoFundMe account has been set up to help the victims of the fire.
