Environment Canada says a tornado brought down trees and power lines near Brockville on Tuesday.

A F1 (moderate) tornado touched down in Athens during a period of severe thunderstorms, they confirmed Wednesday.

Most of the damage was west of the township, with the twister taking a path 300 metres wide and two to three kilometres long.

Athens residents said trees fell onto cars and power was knocked out to 3,000 people until late Tuesday night.

Environment Canada said a second tornado touched down east of Cornwall.

A fair portion of eastern Ontario was under a tornado warning in the mid-to-late afternoon on Tuesday, including the City of Ottawa.
