Gas prices in Ottawa's east end will jump tomorrow by about 6 to 8 cents a litre according to TomorrowsGasPriceToday.com.

Prices at a number of east end stations were still hovering at the 1.18 a litre mark Monday afternoon.

The price hike will take the price at those stations to around 1.26 a litre.

That's the normal market price offered in central Ottawa, Kanata and Nepean.

Dan McTeague of Tomorrow's Gas Prices Today says Ottawa is arguably the most competitive gas market in Canada.

There's a strong mix of independent retailers in Ottawa that helps keeps prices in check.

McTeauge says the gas war in Ottawa's east end and in Carleton Place will come to an abrupt end Tuesday.

'Right now, everytime a retailer turns on their pumps, they're literally giving away 6 to 8 cents a litre to consumers', said McTeague

McTeague says if you want to save some dollars on gas, it's best to fill up Monday night.
