OPP are continuing to investigate a fatal crash yesterday that saw a car launch off the 416 overpass and landed on Highway 417 below.

Police say it does not appear that speed was a factor in the crash.

A 46-year-old Ottawa man was killed in the crash.

It happened around 8:15 a.m. Wednesday.

OPP say the crash happened on the 417 eastbound at the 416 interchange. A car travelling northbound on the 416 left the roadway from the overpass and landed on the 417 eastbound lanes.

OPP say they are trying to figure out what made the driver lose control but are also looking at the impact snow piled high between the fog line and median on the overpass may have played.

In a statment, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Transportation said "while the ramp had been plowed, the contractor had not yet fully completed snow removal work on the shoulder of the Hwy 416 overpass."

Paramedics say the 46-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not been released. No one else was injured.
