Sens fans are getting pumped and businesses on Elgin Street are preparing for the return of the Sens Mile as the Ottawa Senators get ready for this year's playoff run.

"This year, I think we're not only going to make it – it's obvious – but we're going to go all the way," said Cameron Bishop, co-organizer of the Sens Mile, which turns Elgin Street red in support of the Ottawa Senators during the NHL playoffs.

The Senators are currently sitting in fifth place with three games left in the regular season.

"My main concern is making sure we have a place for fans to go and celebrate because not everybody can get out to Kanata," Bishop told CTV Ottawa on Monday.

Business blitz

Organizers of the Sens Mile will be blitzing businesses on Elgin Street this week, encouraging them to get on board early.

"The weather is so beautiful, we need to be out early and I think you know that the guys are going to be playing a lot. It's going to be a hard fought battle for them and they're going to need the fans by their side right and early," Bishop said.

Businesses are encouraged to show their support by putting up Sens signs and stringing red lights across painted windows. Businesses are also asked to donate $100 from each game night to Roger's House, a children's charity supported by the Sens Foundation.

Bishop is now working with the mayor's office to get Sens spirit pumping through the capital. So far, the first round of playoffs will be marked by a flag raising ceremony and parade. If the Sens move on, more events will be planned.
