On the day he's expected to retire, Daniel Alfredsson will hit the ice one more time with the Ottawa Senators.

Today, the team confirmed on Twitter that Alfredsson will skate with the team before their game against the New York Islanders on Thursday at the Canadian Tire Centre.

Eugene Melnyk also took to Twitter today, encouraging fans to arrive early to Thursday's game. After the pre-game skate, Alfredsson will take part in a ceremonial faceoff.

The 41-year-old has been experiencing back problems, forcing him to call it quits.  Alfredsson spent 17 seasons with the Senators, serving as captain from 1999-2013.
