An Outaouais boy who was critically injured after a tree fell on him Thursday evening remains in intensive care at CHEO.

MRC des Collines police say the 4-year-old boy was playing behind the family home early Thursday evening in the Gatineau suburb of L’Ange-Gardien.

Emergency crews responded around 5:40 p.m. after the child was struck in the head by a falling tree.

He was taken to the nearby Buckingham hospital, and then transferred to CHEO.

Police say the boy suffered serious head injuries.
