Soldiers are using bulldozers Saturday to try and contain the growing brush fire at CFB Petawawa.

Military officials said the fire is contained to the training area just west of the Upper Ottawa Valley base, but isn’t under control.

It has grown to consume about 230 hectares since it started early Thursday afternoon and is threatening nearby Algonquin Park.

There are 22 people on the scene with four bulldozers, four tanker trucks and an excavator.

There have been no injuries and no damage to personal property.

This brush fire joins others in the area that have flared up during weeks of dry weather, including one off Moodie Drive in west Ottawa that was the biggest in southern Ontario at one point.
