A brazen bank robbery took place during rush hour this morning.

It happened at a TD bank branch near the 2400 block of Bank St. near Hunt Club Road just before 9 a.m.

Ottawa Police say they are looking for two men who allegedly entered the bank, before producing a note demanding cash. Police say the suspects fled the scene with the help of a getaway car parked at the other side of the strip mall.

But the bandits didn't get far before noticing a bank security measure was attached to the cash, and threw it out the window of the getaway car.

"Banks take various security measures, as you know," said Sgt. Mike Haarbosch of the Ottawa Police Robbery Unit. "I think they discovered that the money contained one of those security measures that the bank has and discarded everything."

The suspects out with an undisclosed amount of cash. Police are looking into whether bystanders picked up the cash thrown out of the car and onto Hunt Club Road.

No arrests have been made.
