A school bus driver has been charged with careless driving after a rear-end collision this morning sent 27 students to hospital.

The crash between the two school buses happened around 8:20 a.m. Monday near St. Francis Xavier Catholic High School in Riverside South.

Students on one bus aid they were shocked when it was rear-ended by the other one.

"I was in the last seat in the back where the emergency exit is and just rammed it in the back and everyone got whiplash it was big," said one student.

Paramedics treated students for minor neck, back or shoulder injuries.

"I was sitting down texting so my head was down…kind of like jolted up and it hurt," said one student.

An additional 5 students were treated for neck or back injuries and released to their parents.

"It was shocking to say the least," said one parent on getting a call about the crash.

Other parents sad they were taking their children to the hospital as a precaution.

"She's got a pain in her neck. Better safe than sorry to get her checked out."
