A smokey Salter Crescent fire on Friday in Kanata led to the discovery of what appeared to be marijuana in the basement, prompting a police investigation.
Fire officials doused the blaze around 10:15 a.m. following a 9-1-1 call. No one was hurt, and a large dog was removed from the house unharmed.
Once firefighers found what they thought was marijuana, they turned the investigation over to police.
