Fire crews battled a blaze at a log cabin home near Richmond, Ont., about 40 minutes away from downtown Ottawa Sunday morning.

The fire started in a ground floor addition to the log cabin located at 6872 Mansfield Rd just after 10:30 a.m. The owner of the home called 911 and reported that smoke was filling the residence.

When fire fighters arrived the owner was using a garden house on the fire on the main floor. Fire crews were able to bring the blaze under control by 11:30 a.m.

Fire fighters remained on the scene after the blaze was under control to make sure the fire hadn’t spread.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
