The shooting of two young Ottawa men outside a Gatineau strip club early Thursday morning is likely gang-related, according to police.

Daniel Valladeres, 19, died outside Cabaret le Pink on Aylmer Road as St-Jean Baptiste Day celebrations were wrapping up. A 16-year-old boy was also seriously injured.

Eight people taken into custody immediately after the shooting have since been released after heavy questioning, according to Gatineau police.

The investigation led officers away from the club towards the police station down the road. There, they found a silver Honda Civic hatchback with Ontario plates splattered with blood and battered by bullets.

Investigators believe the two victims were shot in the car together.

Residents in the area told CTV Ottawa the strip club is known as a gang hangout. They also said it is not the first time gunshots have been heard near the club.
