After more than 40 hours in the water, a Kingston man who has a mild form of autism completed a swim across Lake Ontario.

Thirty-five-year-old Jay Serdula, who has Asperger Syndrome, a mild form of autism, touched the wall at Toronto's Leslie Street Spit at about 3 a.m. Wednesday.

Serdula - who is an accomplished athlete and holds degrees in math and oceanography - did the swim to raise awareness for the disease which he says hasn't held him back.

It's believed he is the first person with Aspergers to complete the 52-kilometre swim
