Crews are working to keep a brush fire at CFB Petawawa away from nearby Algonquin Park Friday.

The base said in a news release that two tankers and a helicopter are bombing a 125-hectare swath of their training area after the fire was sparked Thursday afternoon.

Eighteen firefighters from CFB Petawawa are working at the scene, along with an official from the Ministry of Natural Resources.

If the fire does manage to leave the base it could get into Algonquin Park, which currently has a fire ban because of ongoing drought conditions.

Neither the base nor the park have been evacuated. There have been no injuries or damage to personal property.
