The mix of precious seeds, hot weather and just enough rain, has given an unexpected bounty to one west Ottawa gardener.

Sabina Rosiu has harvested a massive tomato from her garden, tipping the scale at 2.3 kilograms. It's at least five times the weight of an average tomato.

Rosiu says she's used no fertilizer, just cow manure and bone meal at planting.

Mostly, she's started with some special seeds, given to her 24 years ago by a master gardener.

Rosiu has replanted seeds from her best tomatoes for more than 20 years, and that's resulted in an incredible fruit. She doesn't know the name of this particular variety.
