Seven more alleged victims have come forward leading Ontario Provincial Police to lay seven more charges against alleged serial rapist Derrick Gallagher, 31, of Petawawa.

Gallagher, a soldier at CFB Petawawa, made a brief court appearance by video at the Pembroke Courthouse on May 15, 2013.

The charges include one count of sexual assault, five counts of voyeurism and one count of break and enter.

These latest charges bring the total number against Gallagher to 27.  The total number of alleged victims now sits at 16.

OPP still believe there are more than 50 additional women out there who may not even know they are victims in this case.  That’s because police believe Gallagher drugged women, sexually assaulted them and videotaped the assaults.

OPP investigators recently launched an appeal for any woman who as ever been alone with Gallagher to contact them, they worry the women may be victims.

Police also say the alleged victims may have also been infected with a sexually transmitted disease.

Outside the Pembroke courthouse members of the Women’s Sexual Assault Centre of Renfrew County lined up in solidarity, sending a message to end violence against women.

“You can do something to end violence against women, you don’t have to stand for this happening in your community” said Danielle Pecore-Ugorji.

Pecore-Ugorji says it is important victims of assault know there is support for them in their darkest days, “there are women here to listen to them, we believe them, we’re here to support them and they’re not alone in their healing journey.  Perpetrators out there need to know that we’re not going to stand for violence against women. That it has to end. It’s 2014 and it’s time to end now. “

“One in three Canadian women will be sexually violated in their lifetime, it’s horrendous” said the Centre’s Executive Director Joanne Brooks, “I think what we have to honour is every women’s journey. Absolutely trust yourself, do what is good for you, find the people in your life or the community support that can help you do what you need to do.”

A judicial pre-trial has been set for Gallagher May 29, 2014.

He’ll next appear in Pembroke court June 5, 2014.
