A 16-year-old boy has been charged with two recent bank robberies in Ottawa's east end.

The first robbery occurred the night of Feb. 18 at the TD Canada Trust branch at 1648 Montreal Rd. The second was on Feb. 20 at the TD Canada Trust at 910 Watters Rd.

In both cases, a single suspect passed a note demanding money before fleeing with cash.

The boy, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act was charged with two counts of robbery and wearing a disguise during the commission of an offence.

Puppy thief suspect arrested

A 35-year-old Ottawa man has been charged after a puppy was stolen from a pet store inside Carlingwood Mall on Feb. 15.

The suspect smashed the glass of the rear entrance doors and stole an eight-week-old Boston Terrier.

Richard Marcel Dore of Ottawa was charged with break, enter, and theft.

The puppy was recovered without injury and returned to its owners.
