McDonald's Canada has announced its third National Hiring Day. It's a one-day blitz to attract new employees. The fast-food giant hopes to fill over 6,000 jobs across the country, including 375 in Ottawa.

And the jobs aren't necessarily just part-time work for teenagers anymore.

Long-term trends in the economy are making behind-the-counter jobs more attractive to older workers. And that job could be the start of a life-long career. While Canada's job growth continues to sputter, Statistics Canada reports that since 2011 the "Accommodations and Food" sector - which includes the fast-food industry - has added jobs at a rate more than four times the national average.

McDonald/s National Hiring Day takes place Thursday, April 11th at locations across Canada.
