Two McDonald's employees were pepper sprayed during an attempted robbery in Ottawa's east end early Friday morning.
At about 2:30 a.m., two white males charged into the fast food restaurant in the 4400 block of Innes Road. One was wielding a black handgun and the other held pepper spray, according to police.
The men forced two employees into a walk-in fridge, pepper-sprayed them and ran out of the restaurant empty-handed. The robbery was thwarted after a third employee ran to a nearby payphone to call police.
The two suspects are still at large.
The first suspect is described as 6'2" and 200 pounds, with a muscular build. He was wearing a black leather jacket with a black or grey mask and gloves at the time of the robbery.
Police describe the other suspect as 6' tall and 200 pounds with a muscular build. He was wearing a black jacket, dark pants and a black mask and gloves during the incident.
The two employees were taken to hospital to be treated for the spraying. They had no other injuries.
