Former CTV Ottawa news anchor Max Keeping has been diagnosed with an untreatable form of colorectal cancer.
He shared the grim prognosis live on CTV News at 6 with longtime former colleagues Carol Anne Meehan and Michael O'Byrne.
But Keeping is not letting the return of his cancer slow him down, or dim his spirits.
He is championing upcoming Canadian Cancer Society Relay for Life events during the spring and summer.
Keeping underwent surgery in October 2012 for colorectal cancer, in which he had four organs removed.
He says he is grateful for each day and plans to maintain his strong community presence.
Keeping is also encouraging others to get screened and tested for all forms of cancer.
