Starting the week of October 29th, household garbage will be picked up twice a month. The collection day for more than 150,000 households will also change.
The city has started issuing letters to tens of thousands of residents who will have different garbage pick-up dates than they do now.
The City said these changes will help reduce the waste from landfill and will save at least $9-million.
The green bin, for organic waste, will be collected every week.
The blue recycling bin will be pick-up every other week, the same day as garbage pickup.
Black bins will get picked up on alternate weeks of garbage and blue bins.
You can now check your collection dates on the City of Ottawa website.
