Ottawa police are still on the hunt for a former CFL football player wanted in Texas, and now facing charges of assault and uttering threats in the capital.

Cody Ledbetter was a backup quarterback for the Hamilton Tiger Cats and Edmonton Eskimos.

After retiring from professional football, he took a job as a high-school coach in Texas. He was convicted of having an inappropriate relationship with a student in 2005, and legally required to remain in the state.

On Saturday morning - after responding to a domestic disturbance in south Ottawa - police realized Ledbetter was in town.

Police believe he may be driving a maroon 2003 Dodge Ram with Oklahoma plates.

Ledbetter is described as being six feet, 225 pounds, with a muscular build. He is balding.
