A 23-year-old Belleville man is wanted by police after a woman was stabbed early Wednesday morning.
According to police, the woman attempted to climb out her bedroom window to escape during an altercation with her assailant.
She was pulled back down and stabbed several times with a knife, choked, and assaulted further before finally escaping from the residence.
Police arrived at the west-end home at about 3:05 a.m. after the victim had fled to a nearby store for help. The woman was taken to hospital and treated for her injuries.
Justin Kleinsteuber is charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, and choking.
Kleinsteuber is known to the victim, according to Belleville police. He's described a 5-foot-7, 160 pounds, with short blonde hair spiked in the front. He was wearing a blue jean jacket.
