OTTAWA - Ottawa police say a man wanted in connection with a fiery 2009 car crash that left a passenger dead is now in custody.

Police say Brandon Gaul, 26, who was wanted on Canada-wide warrants, was arrested in Grande Prairie, Alta.

RCMP in that city report a sawed-off shotgun was seized from a residence where they arrested Gaul on Thursday.

He was escorted by police back to Ottawa where he appeared in court Sunday and was remanded, with his next appearance scheduled for Wednesday.

Gaul is charged with one count of impaired driving causing death, two counts of impaired driving causing bodily harm and two counts of dangerous driving causing bodily harm.

One man died and three others were seriously injured on Nov. 1, 2009, when a car travelling (on Island Park Drive) in the city's west end left the road, struck a tree and flipped over, and then caught on fire.
