A man is in hospital with serious injuries after his vehicle collided with a rocky face along the side of a highway near Bancroft, west of Ottawa.

Ontario Provincial Police say the man, who is from the Bancroft area, was driving a full-size pickup truck on Highway 28 in the township of Carlow-Mayo, near McArthur's Mills, when his vehicle collided with the rock at about 7:40 a.m. Thursday.

The man, who was the only occupant of the vehicle, suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries. He was airlifted to Kingston General Hospital.

Police say the cause of the collision remains under investigation.
