CORNWALL, Ont. - A South Glengarry man is headed to prison for five- and-a half years for a high-speed drunk driving crash that killed two young adults.

Kevin Menard, 26, pleaded guilty in June to multiple counts of impaired driving causing death.

Menard was driving at roughly 200 kilometres per hour last September when he lost control of his Cadillac CTS on a rural road near Alexandria and slammed into a tree.

Both 21-year-old Colin Geddis and 26-year-old Jasmine Morris were killed instantly, and court records estimate Menard's blood alcohol level was well above the legal limit at the time of the crash.

Menard is also banned from driving for 10 years.

Geddis's father, Colin Geddis Senior, says the length of sentence won't change what happened.
