A young man who pleaded guilty to obstructing justice and breaching conditions of his probation was sentenced to one year in prison Thursday for his role in the murder of a teenager on Booth Street.

Zakaria Dourhnou, 18, entered the guilty plea in March. He was sentenced to 12 months in jail and three years probation for cleaning the blood-stained car used to dump the body of 16-year-old Yazdan Ghiasi.

The judge said Dournhou must have been aware that Ghiasi was killed in the car because of the intense media coverage after the murder.

Ghiasi was shot and dumped from a vehicle in downtown Ottawa in December. He was bleeding profusely and was later pronounced dead in hospital.

Two others are also charged in the killing; one man is still at large.

Abdulhamid Wehbe, 20, is charged with second-degree murder. Khaled Wehbe, 19, is charged with accessory after the fact.

Another man, 18-year-old Mohamed Wehbe, is wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for second-degree murder. He is believed to have fled the country.
