A 55-year-old man suffered serious injuries when the vehicle he was working on pinned him to the ground in west Ottawa Thursday afternoon.
The man was apparently working on his pickup truck when it slipped off the jack and fell on top of him, trapping him underneath for about 20 minutes.
Firefighters managed to extricate the man and work with paramedics to stabilize him before he was airlifted to the Ottawa Hospital's trauma unit.
The man suffered serious chest injuries, a possible collapsed lung and an injury to his shoulder and back. He is in serious but stable condition in hospital.
