A Gatineau man is facing drug charges after marijuana and thousands of dollars in cash were found at a traffic stop Monday night.

Ottawa police said they stopped a vehicle they saw running a red light in the Byward Market, and upon seeing "physical evidence and the driver's behaviour" elected to investigate more.

They said they found 9.3 kilograms of marijuana with an estimated street value of $140,000 and over $71,000 in Canadian cash.

Jean Rompre, age 31, is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of proceeds of crime.
