Police have charged an Ottawa man with 15 sex crimes allegedly committed against a 10-year-old boy over a five-month period.

Ottawa police arrested and charged Scott Robert Bareham, 32, in March. However, investigators did not release his name to the media until Monday.

Bareham is charged with five counts of sexual assault, five counts of sexual interference and five counts of invitation to sexual touching.

Police investigated the case for three months after receiving a complaint that a young boy was sexually assaulted on several occasions in Ottawa and Niagara Falls between July and December 2009.

Police told CTV Ottawa the man and the child are known to each other. However, they would not elaborate on the pair's relationship, except to say the man was not the child's coach.

Anyone who may have information about the case is asked to contact Ottawa police at 613-236-1222, ext. 5944 or Crime Stoppers at 613-233-TIPS.
