PETERBOROUGH, Ont. - Police in Peterborough, Ont., have charged a man with murder in the disappearance of a 74-year-old woman.

Lise Fredette was last seen leaving her job at a local Walmart on Nov. 12, prompting an extensive search by land, boat and air.

On Saturday, police announced that her ex-boyfriend, Andy Watson, 76, has been charged with first-degree murder and criminal harassment, and is due in court Sunday.

It's alleged that Watson was told by police in September to stay away from Fredette, but that he continued to contact her.

Police allege he attacked Fredette in her driveway after she got home from work, causing "grievous harm," then drove her to another location where he may have left her.

Police say Fredette's body has not been found and are appealing for the public's help locating her remains.
