A 21-year-old Ottawa man is charged with attempted murder and his brother is wanted by police in connection with the brutal beating and stabbing of a teen in a west-end parking lot.

The young victim was apparently chased down through the parking lot of a Ritchie Street community housing development near Carling Avenue and Richmond Road at about 7:15 p.m. Saturday.

A resident who lives in the area said one of the attackers was wielding a hatchet.

The teen was beaten and stabbed. He suffered head and neck injuries and was listed in serious condition, police said. The teen is now recovering in hospital.

Police arrested one suspect shortly after the stabbing. Deeq Osman is charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault and possession of a weapon. He is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.

Osman's 22-year-old brother, Mohamed, is also wanted by the Guns and Gangs Unit of the Ottawa police.
