Man charged in Mechanicsville stabbing

Ottawa Police say the suspect in a Tuesday morning stabbing in Mechanicsville has turned himself in.
Hamze Abdi Ahmed. 28, turned himself in to the Ottawa Police headquarters on Elgin Street.
Police said he has been charged with assault with a weapon and aggravated assault. He was due to appear in court on Wednesday.
The alleged incident occurred at about 6:15 a.m. on Tuesday when an argument between Ahmed and the victim, who are known to each other, escalated into a physical altercation, according to police.
A 39-year-old man was taken to hospital in serious condition with a stab wound.
