A 25-year-old man has been charged in relation to Gatineau's first murder of the year.

Const. Jean Bruno Lyrette of the Gatineau Police confirmed that Mathew James Shea was arrested on Thursday morning in Maniwaki with the help of local police and the S�ret� du Qu�bec.

Shea is charged with first-degree murder and forcible confinement in relation to the death of Ryan Horner, who was shot in the chest in an apartment in the Mont Bleu area of Gatineau on April 1.

Horner later died from his injuries.

Shea is to appear in court on Saturday.
