A 23-year-old man has been arrested after barricading himself inside a Vanier apartment with a pellet hand gun.
Ottawa Police say the man called 911 himself around 6:11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2015. Police negotiators and tactical units were on scene shortly after.
Phil Ogbemudia, 23, was arrested around 10:30 a.m. He is facing several weapons-related charges, including:
- Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
- Carrying concealed weapon contrary
- Careless use of firearm
Ogbemudia is being assessed by the mental health unit. He is scheduled to appear in court tomorrow.
The man surrended to police after more than 4 hours. No injuries were reported.
Roads in the area around Alfred Street in Vanier have now reopened.
