A man was sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole after he was found guilty in the 2007 shooting deaths of two men at an east-Ottawa hotel.

A jury found Kwaku Frimpong, 25, guilty of two counts of first-degree murder on Friday.

The bodies of Ziad Ahmad and Phillip Salmon were discovered at Pari's Motel on Montreal Road in June 2007.

Police concluded the pair had been shot in a botched robbery and drug deal. Frimpong was arrested in Markam, Ont. days after the shooting.

Frimpong's defence team says they plan to appeal the verdict.
