Mackenzie King Bridge closed due to suspicious package

OC Transpo is reporting delays of 40 minutes or more because of the closure of the MacKenzie King Bridge.

Police are investigating a suspicious package call at the Department of National Defence.

A special chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and explosives team has been sent in to investigate.

Buses are backed up.

Downtown traffic is clogged.

The Mackenzie King Bridge is a major transit hub for OC Transpo.

The bridge is a stop for cross city bus routes for service from the suburbs to downtown.

The call came in around  3.30 pm.
