Call it the Rideau Shuffle.

(Kids, ask your parents, or maybe grandparents, about that terribly-dated Boz Scaggs reference.)

Rideau Street between Sussex and Dalhousie will close nightly, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. starting October 3rd to accommodate LRT construction.

All vehicles will be prohibited, including taxis and buses.

OC Transpo buses that normally stop at Rideau Centre will be rerouted to the MacKenzie King Bridge.

OC Transpo is offering a free shuttle bus between the Byward Market and the MacKenzie King Bridge between midnight and 6 a.m. Monday to Wednesday, and between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. Thursday to Saturday.

Starting October 11th, The Rideau Centre will allow transit customers access through the Frieman entrance on Rideau Street. After that, the OC Transpo Shuttle service will only run Thursday to Saturday from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m.

The nightly closures are expected to continue to the beginning of December.

The scheduled closures start one day after the street was unexpectedly shut down due to a small hole that developed. It was the result of construction activity and was quickly patched.
