It's been one week since Justin Rutter's mother saw her son.

While police continue to investigate unconfirmed sightings of the teen, Rutter's parents are clinging to hope that their son is safe.

"Just call home. Just let us know you're okay and we'll be happy with that - just let us know you're okay," said Jaye Rutter, who spoke at a special prayer service at the Seventh Day Adventist Church on Wednesday night.

The 14-year-old teen went missing after hanging out with friends on Cote Road near St. Laurent Boulevard on Oct. 8.

Rutter, who is described as a "street smart" kid, apparently told his friend he wanted to stay out late, possibly all night, according to police.

Police say he often hangs out in the Lowertown, Vanier and Overbrook area. He has never stayed away from home before.

Rutter is described as about five feet four inches tall, and weighs 110 pounds. He has light brown hair and brown eyes. He was wearing jeans and a brown and white hoodie at the time of his disappearance.

Anyone with information about Rutter's whereabouts is asked to contact Ottawa police at 613-236-1222, ext. 5355.
