If you haven't decided what to do for the August long weekend, you might want to consider a staycation. There are numerous festivals in the capital this weekend, with something to please all five senses.

For history buffs, there's the Bytown Days at the Bytown Museum near the Chateau Laurier. The event is happening from July 30th to Monday, August 3rd. It includes a wide variety of events from walking tours around Ottawa to historical workshops and a free family fun day on the civic holiday.

If you aren't interested in a history lesson, take your taste buds for a wild ride at the all new Capital Ribfest. The new event at City Hall's Marion Dewar Plaza features first-time Ottawa ribbers from all across Canada and the United States. Unlike the Sparks Street Ribfest organizer Les Gagne says booths are arranged in a circle to make it easier for rib lovers to choose and enjoy their favourite BBQ items. Capital Ribest runs all weekend starting today at 4pm to 10pm all weekend 11am to 10pm with the festival wrapping up on Monday at 6pm.

For music lovers, the annual Glengarry Highland Games is taking place from July 31st to August 1st, 2015 in Maxville, Ontario. The Scottish festival was started in 1948, welcoming more than 50 pipe bands every year in the North American Pipe Band Championships. There is also Highland dancing, a military tug of war on Saturday and blow up castles for kids.

There's also Buskerfest this weekend which will transform Sparks Street into a playground for street performers. More than 200,000 spectators are expected to attend. The talented performers will be doing their crowd-pleasing acts daily from July 30th until August 3rd.
