An Ottawa law firm is holding a briefing for current Nortel employees regarding what might happen to them now that the company has filed for bankruptcy protection.

The meeting is scheduled for 5 p.m. on Jan. 26 at the Travelodge Hotel, located at Carling and Kirkwood avenues.

Legal firm Nelligan & Payne says the briefing is designed to give employees a forum to discuss unpaid severance, unpaid bridge payments to pensions, plus options for anyone who might be laid off in the future.

Employees will also be given information about what will happen If Nortel reduces salaries or benefits.

Nelligan & Payne says it's already received several calls from workers who are interested in attending the session.

The firm also represents others in a court action over pensions.
