Negotiations are scheduled for Sunday to try and avoid an OC Transpo strike that could begin as early as next Wednesday.

Drivers in the Amalgamated Transit Union have voted 98 per cent in favour of walking out. They are seeking a 10.5-per-cent wage hike over three years plus concessions on sick leave and scheduling.

The City of Ottawa's contingency plans include opening downtown bus lanes to cars and extending street parking hours. OC Transpo would also ask riders to carpool and stagger work hours.
