Family remembers Elizabeth Harris as a "determined and wonderful" young mother.

29-year old Elizabeth Harris of Smiths Falls was hit and killed at the intersection of Highway 7 and County Road 15 yesterday in Carleton Place just after 8 o'clock Wednesday morning.

"My chest feels like it is going to explode. Knowing i can't hold her no more. it's too hard," says her mother Francoise Arnold.

"She is my baby, she was my oldest, she gave me three grandchildren."

Samantha Arnold is now coming to terms with the loss of her older sister.

"Everything that made me happy was her," she says. "She was a great sister, a great mom a loving person."

Lanark OPP have charged 64-year-old Gordon Sarles of Richmond Hill, Ontario with one count of failing to stop for a red light contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. Sarles faces the charge after 29-year-old

Police say Sarles struck her car in his semi-truck at 8:20 where she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Harris leaves behind her three children — daughter Harlow, 4; son Leland, 6; and daughter Dakota, 8.
