Riding History
The riding formed in 2004 from Hastings-Frontenac-Lennox and Addington and Lanark-Carleton. Frontenac-Lennox and Addington was Tory with Douglas Alkenbrack from 1968 to 1979 and Bill Vankoughnet in Hastings-Frontenac (and then Hastings-Frontenac-Lennox and Addington) until 1993. He lost then to Liberal Larry McCormick who won again in 1997 and 2000.
In Lanark and Renfrew, the MP for two terms ending in 1972 was Liberal Murray McBride. In 1972, the riding became Lanark-Renfrew-Carleton and was won by Tory Paul Dick. He won again in 1974 and then in Lanark-Renfrew-Carleton in 1979, 1980 and 1984; and in Lanark-Carleton in 1988. Dick finally lost to Liberal Ian Murray in 1993.
