A Vanier family is unsure when they'll be able to return home after a kitchen fire caused them to evacuate their home Tuesday night.

Firefighters were called to 1010 Lola Street at about 7 p.m. where the kitchen of the semi-detached unit was fully engulfed in flames caused by a grease fire.

Paramedics treated one man for burns.

Although the Red Cross helped the family relocate Tuesday night, there's no word when they'll be able to return home.

Damage is estimated at about $50,000.
