KISS rock legend Gene Simmons joined his longtime partner Shannon Tweed on a tour of some of Ottawa's greatest attractions on Tuesday.
The couple, who star in the reality show 'Family Jewels,' was followed by a throng of fans as they took a stroll along Bank Street and visited Parliament Hill Tuesday afternoon. A private party for the pair will be held Tuesday night.
Tweed, a former Playboy model, once served cocktails in the capital. She lived in Ottawa for about four years and also worked as a model.
In 1977, she was crowned Miss Ottawa Valley. Five years later, she was named Playboy's Playmate of the Year.
Although Tweed only spent a few years living in Ottawa, people across the city were abuzz with news of her arrival late Monday night.
A move to declare Shannon Tweed Day in the capital was rescinded last week after several councillors complained about the idea during a closed-door meeting.
But Tweed, 52, says she doesn't need a day named in her honour. Upon arriving in Ottawa, she told reporters her rock star partner tells her everyday is a day to celebrate Shannon Tweed.
"That's what Gene says - Everyday is Shannon Tweed Day . . . I like that about him."
Tweed will accompany Simmons to the Cisco Ottawa Bluesfest where KISS is set to play on Wednesday.
