Kingston Police swept the streets for prostitution on Thursday night, arresting eight men for allegedly trying to buy sex and one woman for trying to sell.

According to police the men were arrested for "communication for the purposes of obtaining sexual services;" and the woman for "soliciting for the purposes of prostitution."

Police patrolled the city's downtown core for prostitution after several complaints from residents living in the area.

Kingston Police say they will continue to monitor for similar offences.
